Katie Saunders, Resident in Counseling
Clinician
Philosophy of Care
Katie’s style of therapy involves an eclectic combination of evidence-based, trauma-informed interventions and techniques to adapt to the client’s presenting needs. Throughout treatment, you may experience creative modalities beyond talk therapy involving art, music, play, meditation, or storytelling. Alternatively, Katie also offers care coordination to assist with the more practical demands of life, like assistance with navigating the workforce, advocacy and community support, and routine self-care strategies. One of her highest personal values as a counselor is to respect and value client feedback and satisfaction, which will directly influence the therapeutic process.
Outside of the office, Katie can often be found embracing and nurturing her inner child in one way or another. She spends her time playing video games, roleplaying with friends in dungeon and dragons, camping, singing karaoke, and prioritizing quality time with her family and friends.
The world can be a chaotic, often unfair place, and it’s important to practice self-compassion through the therapeutic process. Often, we feel ashamed of the ways in which we have instinctually adapted to keeping ourselves safe and functioning. Katie is passionate about authenticity and nonjudgment when finding adaptive and personalized ways to heal, and she sincerely looks forward to developing a strong and compassionate therapeutic bond with you.
